Perks:

  • Tailored gear that ensures comfort and boosts performance.
  • The thrill of playing at the center of every game, directly influencing the outcome.

Delande was useless today. Sasha Fienberg needs someone outside him that can run supporting lines. Maybe AM could start next week at 12. Not sure Pollard is the answer at 12 either, but he has more brains than Delande.

Aug 31, 2024, 20:10

Candidates that can fill that role with much better attributes ASAP :

Andre Esterhuisen, David Kriel, Rickus Pretorius, Damian Willemse, Jerenzo Julius, Bruce Sherwood , Joshua Boulle, Johnathan Roche.

@ 13 Canan Moodie, Henco van Wyk, Damian Willemse, Jerenzo Julius.

Aug 31, 2024, 20:36

You don't know your elbow from your arse ...Damian had a solid game.

Aug 31, 2024, 20:53

" Damian had a solid game.". - besides the one turnover, pls explain to us Draad how you can claim he had a solid game?

Aug 31, 2024, 22:30

As a loose forward, in the 2nd half. I need someone that can exploit the space created by SFM

Sep 01, 2024, 06:16

" besides the one turnover, pls explain to us Draad how you can claim he had a solid game?"

It was 2 vital turnovers and his defense was excellent...the Allblacks didn't give us any space...bordering on offside...the team had an off day and still beat the Allblacks, coming from 10 behind...we beat them in territory and possession...

The Barrett intercept try should never have happened,  but it's rugby, these things happen...I also think we should be looking for, and blooding his successor , but although we have a lot of good players,  nobody is breaking the door down to be starting @ 12 for the Bokke ATM.

Sep 01, 2024, 06:20

"As a loose forward, in the 2nd half. I need someone that can exploit the space created by SFM"

That's on the whole backline, not only the 12...we were over eager yesterday...against NZ...a bit more patience and things will start to fall in place...3 in a row vs NZ don't come easy.

Sep 01, 2024, 06:28

DDA clearly has a role as a roaming third flanker and in that he is pretty good. He's way better over the ball than Kolisi, he smashes and bashes in close quarters like a forward. As a 12 with ball in hand, the hardware is often too slow, the software buggy and the vision too clouded.

Eina!

:D

Sep 01, 2024, 07:07

"...the software buggy and the vision too clouded."

True, not the sharpest pencil, but effective...I don't expect him to play like Gerber, but he is one of the reasons we normally boss the collisions.

Sep 01, 2024, 07:26

but he is one of the reasons we normally boss the collisions

In other words you're happy with a one trick pony who replicates dumbmuscle, Jasper

Thought inside centres had a different role to forwards:'(

Sep 01, 2024, 07:57

He chucked a pass into no-man's land, stuffing momentum.

He gave the ABs a try at a crucial time in the game, handing them momentum at the start of the second half.

His serious pace deficit basically saw him shepherd Clarke in for a try.

All we hear is that he makes tackles and bashes in midfield. But there are other players, with pace, skill and attacking smarts that can do that too.

It really is time for him to go.

Sep 01, 2024, 08:19

Pakie

Esterhuizen is as thicjk as a brick and you want him in the team.   Where SB got that BS from nobody knows and he proabably got it ffrom sonmewhere whre i was posted by another BSter anyway.

Sep 01, 2024, 09:05

AE is as thick as a brick?

He's so much more solid all around than DDA that it's not even a contest.

The only people on this site that still support DDA are from WP.

Beeno, Mike, Draad.

Now, I'm not usually one to call out provincial bias but it's pretty clear in this instance.

Cumon you three, you know what I'm talking about!

Sep 01, 2024, 09:14

As a 12 with ball in hand, the hardware is often too slow, the software buggy and the vision too clouded.

One man's peanut is another man's monkey.

Sep 01, 2024, 09:21

Saffex and Swys is not from WP...and DDA wasn't at WP when Rassie coached there...I don't think he's brilliant...he's OK...I would like a old-school 12 to step up, but none has...AE is OK and I also think he could have been given more opportunities, but DdA isn't nearly as useless as some on here suggest...

Sep 01, 2024, 09:30

PS...we just beat the Allblacks again 3 in a row now when last did that happen?...coming back from a 10 point deficit...and we played below par...the Bokke is a good team...and DdA is part of that team...Rassie knows what he has in him. We just started blooding a new 9,10 and 15 vs the Allblacks...12 and 13 is most probably next, as soon as the others have settled...too much change at once will backfire miserably...have a bit of patience.

Sep 01, 2024, 11:32

The role as roaming third flanker works with the more conservative Forward oriented game plan of Rassie.

As we can see that is mostly still the way we play and it doesn’t look like it will change any time soon, maybe never.

Rassie did mention in a interview, that the boks need to move on from being a 1 trick pony and needs to add the Back line play to the arsenal.

If he is really serious about that, then his first change should have been dropping DA and Jessica.

So until that happens, the brillant talent of SFM is wasted and the full potential we might possess, will never be unlocked.

Also the Brilliant Attack coach in Tony Brown, will be for nothing. Swys has mentioned it before with his time at the Boks, the more he was pushing for Attack, the more Rassie was pushing for a conservative style.

Another important factor that has been mentioned by Moz, is having Loose Forwards in your team that can break tackles, link with the Backline and offload. Not only bashing it up and looking for the Contact, but looking for the space.

Players like Kwagga, Louw, Cameron Hanekom, BJ Dixon, possibly Roos, Francke Horn, Thsituka Brothers, Marcel Theunnisen is the players in that mold that will take us forward.

In conclusion all of this talk is actually for nothing, if the man in charge Erasmus, does not believe that himself and changes it. He is still far to comfortable reverting to Stampkar as our main style of play!

Sep 01, 2024, 12:05

Some good things happening in the Bok setup, yes. That lineout where they ball went from the jumper straight to Sacha on the blindside nearly got us through. Likewise there were also a few shambolic lineout efforts. But you can see they're shaking things up a bit, and that's good.

Sep 01, 2024, 12:38

Simplest and most sensible solution is to play Lukhanyo Am at #12 with Jesse (or Moodie) ar #13.

Best investment would be to leave this up in the air with DDA still nominally in the jersey until such time as Damian Willemse is fit and then pick him there going forward. This leaves the current back 3 of Kolbe, Fassi and Arendse intact.

Not too many other options. Ethan Hooker may be one. I hope so. I like the look of him.

Solve the centre conundrum and the rest of the backline picks itself except for scrumhalf where we have some quality options.

Sep 01, 2024, 12:54

I just don't get why he is so hyped up by the media and some on here. Slipped a few tackles, some not even dominant and then just killed any momentum the backline try to create. I see all the media giving him a rating of 7. To me he was one of the worst players. His pass to nowhere, could have easily been intercepted. Then, him and old Kolisi running the same play for the 4th timez only to lead to an intercept. They tried that move 3 times. The first time Kolisi knocked the ball on

Kolisi needs to be dropped. He spends more time in he backline along with Kolisi. Two flankers trying to be midfield maestros. We had Arendse and Kolbe begging for the ball. All they needed was any of our back three just to get a little space.

Honestly, some of these players are so over hyped. They just don't know how to put things together.

I do believe we need to phase them out and fast.

We saw that a kid like Fineberg can go tow to toe with Kiwis l, make a few mistakes and we still win.

But it is the type of mistake. Man, how did Dud not see th defense, he just had to dummy like McKenzie and then pass. It is so simple. This guy is the reason why we don't have a decent backline play.

I'm okay with money ball players that don't shine and do the work, but seriously, he doesn't do anything for me.

Kolisi is another that should be left in Paris. He'll fit in well because Paris is no longer a European city. full of blacks.

Sep 01, 2024, 14:46

"Kolisi needs to be dropped. He spends more time in he backline along with Kolisi. "

????

Kolisi is twice the player Eskom pretends to be...

Sep 01, 2024, 16:04

Looks like Kolisi suffered a Cheekbone fracture and Arendse a concussion….so they won’t be available for the second clash at newlands….

Sep 01, 2024, 17:03

They should call up Hanekom from the Bulls to fill the vacancy,

Sep 01, 2024, 17:03

Sep 01, 2024, 17:21

Yes Hanekom is a good idea and he is on Rassies radar. He was also at the alignment camps….so he will be in the Bok camp sooner than later, hopefully.

I think he played his first game for the Bulls this weekend after returning from injury.

Then I also wonder if Wilco will eventually get his chance and Ruben van Heerden?? Man these guys are good and can be a great asset for the Boks.

Pathetic call Shatk you are as rugby ignorant as ever

DA saved us a good few times and was as powerful as ever

Sep 01, 2024, 23:28

Draad excuse these ignorant twits - Kolisi had another powerful game with plenty of impact with those carries

Sep 02, 2024, 00:06

On his best days, Delande is the complete package at the inside centre. When he first started out, he was very good at offloading. He has also displayed good short pop passes in traffic before making contact. However, anyone can see that he is not a natural playmaker. Too many opportunities to go wide are bungled by his inconsistent decision-making and lack of vision.

Strengths

Deland e's physical attributes and core skills make him a formidable presence in the midfield:
  • Powerful runner: His strength allows him to break tackles and gain meters after contact.
  • Solid defender: He reads plays well and puts in bone-crunching tackles.
  • Short passing game: His pop passes in tight spaces create opportunities for supporting runners.

Areas for Improvement

Despite his strengths, Delande has clear limitations as a playmaker:
  • Decision-making: He often hesitates or makes the wrong choice under pressure.
  • Passing range: His long passing lacks accuracy and consistency.
  • Field vision: Delande struggles to spot gaps in the defensive line or identify mismatches.
  • Creativity: He rarely produces unexpected plays to unlock defences.

Impact on Team Strategy

Delande's skill set influences how the team utilizes him:
  • He's most effective as a crash-ball option, drawing in defenders and creating space out wide.
  • The team relies on other players to orchestrate attacking moves and distribute the ball.
  • Coaches often pair him with a more creative outside centre to compensate for his limitations.
While Delande's physical presence and core skills make him a valuable asset, his playmaking deficiencies prevent him from being a test standard inside centre.

I do  think he should be considered to play at flank where he can roam around the rucks

Sep 02, 2024, 00:18

Big fucking YAWN

Sep 02, 2024, 12:19

DDA plays a role in Erasmus,s set up of conservative forward oriented game style.

Now that a more balanced style of Rugby is being applied, he is totally out of his depth.

A 12 should at least be able to pass the ball, but he can’t even do that . Instead his passes lands in no man’s land or they get intercepted.

Also his positional play in the midfield leaves unnecessary gaps for try scoring opportunities. Jessica is the same and both of Caleb,s tries were because of rushing up to fast or positional lapses that gave the AB the necessary space to punish us.

Now we are supposed to look over all his short comings and just because of a turnover + a couple of tackles, he is supposedly the best 12 in the Game?!

Thanks for nothing I say and happy holidays for your future…but please go and give us a 12 that can think on his feet…a 12 that will fit together with the Brilliant SFM that clearly thinks while he is playing like a super star.

There is plenty of other better options, but Erasmus is holding on because of favouritism and false loyalty.

Because he is so strong, I also say give him a go of the bench as a flank. He spends most of his time at rucks in Anycase. That way he can effect more turnovers for us.

Sep 02, 2024, 15:56

Dud is also terminally slow. He had a decent angle on Clarke  to prevent his first try and got instantly gassed. He has a low top end and his mental reactions are so slow, he never accelerates instantly.

Meat and potatoes for 10 years at 12….how much rugby haven’t we played because of this cul de sac. As for defense he’s fine head on, but ask him to tackle a fast back in space and it’s bound to be a mess.

If Brown has any hope of building an offense that can score structured tries he simply has to persuade Eluckmiss to make a change.

Sep 02, 2024, 16:32

While Allende has been appreciated as a top class inside center our resident Mamparas are at it again criticizing the great man.

One mampara suggests the consistently failing AE is the answer. Bwahahahahaha sides splitting stuff. Try him against Argentina but dont risk playing him against the Abs.

I am open to Am getting a shot at 12. Allende needs a break sometime as does Kriel.

It's always a pity when a fine Bok like Alkende gets no respect from ignorant supporters.

At least all the Du Toit knockers have been silenced. Even poor mozzietard has shut up. Du Toit sure rubbed their long  snouts in it! :D

Sep 02, 2024, 18:03

Dud Toit’s failure to perform the normal contesting of the ball on the deck in the last seconds cost us the Irish test….I haven’t been silenced HasBeen, I’m  still documenting  the moments the groupies miss.

Sep 02, 2024, 23:30

de Allende is a class act - 3 turnovers won, a defender beaten and plenty of metres gained in traffic

He was massively physical and not to mention the try saving tackle on Savea - that was a big hit
