This weekend, the Vodacom URC is set to electrify fans with two high-octane South African derbies. The scene is set at Cape Town Stadium and Kings Park where local rivalries will take center stage. The Stormers, currently leading the pack, are gearing up to face the Lions, while the Bulls will make their way to Durban for a clash with the Sharks.

The Stormers are riding high with an impressive eight-match unbeaten streak across all competitions, including key victories in the Investec Champions Cup. They recently secured a thrilling 27-21 comeback against Munster, pushing them to 27 points from six games in the URC. Their depth has been a crucial factor, allowing them to perform consistently even as they rotate players.

"We're seduced by our great start but aware of the challenges ahead," remarked Stormers' coach.

Contrastingly, the Lions have had a rollercoaster season, with a notable victory over the Bulls but faltering in the EPCR Challenge Cup. They currently stand seventh in the URC table and are hungry for redemption in the upcoming derby.

The Bulls, just a point behind the Lions, are desperate to put their recent dismal performances in the Champions Cup behind them. Victories against Ospreys, Leinster, and Connacht have been highlights in an otherwise turbulent URC campaign.

Meanwhile, the Sharks have faced their own set of challenges, sitting third from the bottom of the table. They've only managed a single win and a draw in the URC, and the departure of coach John Plumtree has led to interim coach JP Pietersen taking the helm.

"We're looking at each game as a step towards the playoffs," stated Pietersen, after a morale-boosting win over Saracens.

As the teams prepare for the weekend clashes, fans are bracing for intense rugby action that's bound to have significant implications on the URC standings. With the Stormers hosting the Lions and the Sharks welcoming the Bulls, rugby enthusiasts are in for a treat filled with tactical prowess and fierce competition.

Round 7 fixtures include Leinster vs Ulster, Cardiff vs Scarlets, Benetton vs Zebre, Glasgow vs Edinburgh, Ospreys vs Munster, and Dragons vs Connacht alongside the highlighted South African derbies.
