Mat Rogers, the former Wallabies standout turned player agent, is making waves with his comments on Carter Gordon's potential shift back to rugby union. Gordon, currently with the NRL's Gold Coast Titans, has sparked interest from Rugby Australia (RA) due to his formidable talents, despite a neck injury stalling his rugby league progress.

Gordon's rugby league journey hit a snag with a serious neck injury after just one appearance for the Titans, leading to surgery for a spinal fluid leak. However, he's back in form and RA is keen on bringing him back into the union fold, eyeing him as a possible addition for the Wallabies' European tour. With Rugby Australia in talks, the Queensland Reds could be Gordon’s next port of call.

Rogers, who himself switched between rugby codes during his career, supports RA's pursuit but acknowledges Gordon's potential in the NRL. "Gold Coast are rebuilding, and Carter is a big part of that plan. But if he's pondering a return to rugby, now would be the time," Rogers explained to Nine’s Wide World of Sports.

"He is an out and out talent and we saw some glimpses of it in the last round this year when he played against the Tigers."

The Wallabies are in dire need of a fly-half, with injuries plaguing their current roster. Quade Cooper, another former Wallaby, has praised Gordon, highlighting the boost he could bring to the team. Rogers echoed this sentiment, suggesting that staying in league might also suit Gordon well. "I would certainly vouch for Carter Gordon in league from what I’ve seen of him and the conversations I’ve had with him. I certainly think he could make it as a first-grade footballer and reach the elite level," Rogers affirmed.

As the battle for his talents continues, Carter Gordon stands at a crossroads between two codes, each offering a pathway to stardom. His decision will not only shape his career but potentially the fortunes of the teams vying for his exceptional skills.
