They were all in the alignment camps, so they should stand a above average chance of being part of the squad.

Agreed with that one, That is why the hero of the site duds who apparently want Mostert ahead of Van Heerden and Snyman in the Springbok team. Mostert failed where real locks do not fail.
Two great prospects.
Mike, care to tell us how/where Mostert failed?
I was saying a Mostert is better than a Lood at 5….as Tassels stated he wants to give the older core another crack at Ireland…. So if Mostert is such a liability and not worth his starting spot @ 5, then all of your arguments about him is falling flat, as Tassels has started him more then Lead Feet….on the one hand you Guys admire Tassels like he is a god, but very quick to doubt his decision where it doesn’t accord to your own….I would say that is a Butter on both sides of the bread scenario.
No fucking way is powder puff better than Lood at 5 it’s like comparing a child to a man
Smack!!!!…..here’s your powder puff.
Yip that’s Lead Feet …he try’s to give the man a Shoulder massage, instead of going low and tackling the man out…he has plenty of time to position himself.
Now, all the Mostert haters have to do is provide a clip of Mostert missing an easy tackle that...
"But will they Jackie, will they...!?"
Easy and crucial, that took us out the WC.
We are going to have a hard time replacing Etzebeth and Snyman/Mostert. Can’t say I have seen a dominating lock among the newbies.
Moz 2 candidates for me is Ruben van Heerden and Ruan Vermaak …these guys really put in the hard work in defence, Line out and loose play….week in and week out these guys performs and is worthy at a shot at the top level.
I’m sure they are M, but lock has probably been the biggest plus position for the Boks over the last 6 years….to me these guys look more like the good locks other countries have had. But I agree, they are international standard.
Eben, RG and Mostert leave big shoes to fill…they are one of kind and not easy to come by. For now the ones we have, will do a good enough job to eventually fill those shoes.
Draad what the blue blazes is your latest mental malfunction?
in t he cas of Mostert you mean boots for 5 year-olds? Moster was a fring
e player only to play if other better players were injured or not available to play for other reasons.
Having said that….that looks like a magnificent king salmon. I used to troll for them on Lake Michigan. The lure looks like it has a bit of red in it, attractive to the Salmon before they go up the rivers.
I had a humorous in retrospect incident with one once. My inexperienced fishing companion in the boat miss netted the prior fish and let it escape.
So as I brought a beautiful king to the boat, I decided to do it all my myself. But as I reached for the gills the salmon pulled a sudden kick.
To my dismay I found the triple hook had snagged one finger. Fortunately the salmon fell free and I released it. But the hook remained in my finger.
We went ashore to the hospital where the emergency room knew all about hooked fingers. When the doctor came in, I told him the lure was special….they were only striking on a red Tadpolly. He smiled, said nothing and promptly cut off the triple hook, ostensibly destroying it.
I rescued the body of the lure and that night rigged a new triple hook with nylon, not at all sure it would work. The next day I tried other lures in my box.,,,nada.
Then I put the mangled Tadpolly on the line and within minutes I had a salmon on. Great
lure, the red Tadpolly.
I am not sure, but i think that is a huge Salmon and it speaks for the huge shoes that needs to be filled, that Eben, RG and Mostert leaves behind? Am I correct Draad?
By the way this youngster is as far as I can remember the son of Moaner van Heerden - is he not?
Kinda the Mostert of salmon?
Moaner van Heerden is the father of Wikus van heerden , the Luons and Bok Flanker.
Nice fishing story Moz. Catching with lure is more difficult but rewards is usually bigger…
Thanks Mpower - i must have mixed up the two play
ers.
We used to primarily troll to cover the lake. The Salmon were always gathered in a temperature zone….deeper as the Lake warmed in summer. So we fished with downriggers…. the lure was clipped to the downrigger at a given depth. It was complicated fishing.
The fish above is still fresh or ‘sea run’ with no black or dulling of its colors. So not yet ready to go up the river. When that happens they are more on the surface. There are moments you could count 50 salmon in the air jumping if you were quick enough.
We actually get a salmon run up one of the rivers running through my golf club. Beautiful to see.
I’ll keep this simple - let’s ignore what you or I think of Lood and ask the question. Why would the best 5 to have ever played the game in Matfield say that Lood is the best 5 in the game right now?
Now do you honestly think Matfield would say that about a player you clowns think is so shit?
As per usual you clowns look as stupid as ever
The old appeal to authority. Look at him being snotklapped by Kaino…that’s the real argument. A low energy, clumsy player who could hardly make a tackle without injuring himself.
Moz try answer the question instead of deflecting - why would Matfield say he is the best 5 in the game
As for Kaino your take is a load of utter shit as per usual
There is absolutely no disgrace in being beaten by Kaino - Lood was certainly not agile and quick enough to get into a position to take Kaino out - great hand off by one of the best to play the game
But one missed tackle does not define a player but just answer the question. Is Matfield clueless huh? The old appeal to authority - what a load of fucking shit. By implication Matfield did not mean it then according to you. Geez there is lame and then we get you telling us what Matfield actually thinks - you clearly have a special talent Moz
Imagine if I actually bought your shit?
Nah, just keep selecting them by the lb.
He is far far better than the physically inept Mostert who could not even clean out a 18 year old fullback
Have you ever seen Mostert making a tackle where the tackled player did not go forward in the tackle - that is if the carriers do not ran straight through his tackle attempts. Just prove he made any case wherre he forced his way through traffic and scored a try - he scored only 3 in the 72 matches he played in and in the case of all 3 he did not have to force his way through defenders at all. Du Toit scored 8 tries in 77 matches he played in and in some of those he showed streength in crossing the tryline.
Mostert never played a role in breakdown ball rotection and h e si jsut psuh away even by backline players. You come up with talks only about his line out play and even that was weak and caused no problem for opponents other than his average and below par tackles.
Not really true is it…..just chancing your arm again Yokkie.

Minute 66…watch , learn and shut your gob.
Yokkie, Tokkie or Jokkie?...was that a Freudian slip?
Hardly running through someone now is he? Not even close
Beats a tackle carving between two players, gets hit 2 metres out and carries over the line. ‘Great line by the big man’ says the commentator.
Actually an F would be even better.
Gets hit bwhaahaaa dream on. There was absolutely zero physicality involved in that try
Had there been a defender in front of him he would have been smashed backwards probably conceding possession as he did twice in the WC
Mostert is a joke
There was no defender directly in front of him because he ran the right line
Eggyolk
Oh wow how special he is - 3 tries in all those tests - clearly running good lines is not a strength of his
Well he has 3 tries….Dud Toit has 8. You leap to the obvious conclusion. But the Dud carries the ball far more per match. And Mostert started 45 tests vs 58 for the Dud. With Kolisi being subbed, since playing flank Dud plays the full game…Mostert has been subbed. Also the Dud is far more likely to get the ball near opposition line.
So I’d say it’s inconclusive. Except to say as locks, and Dud is a lock, they are not effective ball carriers.
Schalk Burger, also not a great ball carrier, but more suited got 16 tries in 86 tests. Double Dud’s count in his 76 tests.
Same with Willem Alberts who got 7 tries in 43 tests. Or Kwagga who has 7 tries in 40 tests, 5 coming on as a reserve.
We need an effective forward ball carrier to focus our ball in hand game.

In the URC with 219 missing only 6 all season. Add that to his athletic line out work and general play and we have a player that simply has to be a Bok this year
Has it all at 2.01m and 122kg
Next best SA tackles were Elrigh Louw then Roos
