Franco Smith isn't one to rest on his laurels, even after Glasgow Warriors' thrilling 28-21 comeback win against Toulouse. With the dust barely settled at a pulsating Scotstoun, Smith's gaze is already locked on the upcoming derby duels with Edinburgh in the Vodacom URC. While the victory has buoyed the Warriors, Smith is clear that it’s what comes next that really counts.

The Warriors, now topping Pool 1 in the Investec Champions Cup after also dispatching Sale last weekend, find themselves in a promising position. However, despite the morale boost, Smith is cautious, emphasizing the need for focus and discipline as they face Edinburgh. "It does give us confidence, but it also creates expectation – and expectation can blame one," Smith conveyed in a chat with the BBC.

"For now, we’re just going to focus on the next job, the process, and use the confidence to grow and progress."

Smith elaborated on how the team managed to turn the game around against Toulouse, attributing their success to staying true to their game plan, even when the going got tough. "We knew that if we get the ball in our hands, if we get a bit of territory, we can ask questions," he noted, confident in his team's ability to score when it mattered.

The South African coach also stressed the importance of momentum, a vital component in rugby's unforgiving landscape. "Momentum in this game is everything," he remarked, proud of how his players handled the pressure and executed the plan.

"The physical application was fantastic. They believed in the plan and the way they acted on their belief. I’m really proud of that."

As the Warriors gear up for their clashes with Edinburgh, it’s clear that Smith is not just looking for wins but sustained growth and resilience. With a squad that's growing in confidence and a coach who’s steadfast in his strategic approach, Glasgow's upcoming matches are poised to be as electrifying as their last.
