Guys that were always on your lists and who ‘proved’ the coaches were stupid when not selected.  This is a list that would actually entertain. Here are a few examples:

Meisiekind

Luke Watson

Pat Lambie

Serfontein (was going to be bigger than JdV)

Marcel Coetzee

Quince

JJ Englebrecht ….hahaha

Jantjies

Jaco Taute (another name you never let go)

Chilliboy…..oh boy!

Gelant

The Deysel Twins…..always a favorite

Marcel van der Merwe…..surely your favorite prop of all time?

But being a MSC of lists you could multiply this brief attempt by 5. Go ahead give us your list of Dave test flops please.

Who is quince?

Jul 18, 2024, 16:17

Quinn Roux.

Jul 18, 2024, 17:07

Ok yes he is a solid unit that plays very well for Bath….man there is so many Quality players from SA it’s difficult to keep up.

Jul 18, 2024, 18:48

Stop dissing Luke Watson

Jul 18, 2024, 18:57

Actually PUKE Watson.

Jul 18, 2024, 19:06

Dave is an ever optimist, but I wish he could pick his top 15 without having to name all the other 100 players he needs to try and Squeeze in

" Luke became a Springbok in controversial fashion in 2007 when then coach Jake White was forced to include him in the team after pressure from the sports ministry.

White did not want Luke in his Springbok team but was eventually forced to include him.

Luke’s dad, Cheeky, was held in high esteem in political circles for being an anti-apartheid activist.

Watson at the time said he felt unwelcome in the Bok camp and made the infamous remark that he wanted to puke on his Springbok jersey. "

This is the reason why he is a disgrace!! That being said, Puke Watson was a bog ordinary player, not good enough to make Bok ranks : )

Moz that list is longer than any list of SA players you actually like

Why you support SA rugby is beyond me - it must be bloody painful disliking so many players and hating the coach

Jul 18, 2024, 23:03

Well for starters I don’t rate anybody on that list. Why you thought all those players are world beaters  is beyond me, but you couldn’t be persuaded.

As for Eluckmiss, he lost me when he abandoned the Boks in 2007 to take up the job in CT. An act of total selfishness, which characterizes everything about the man.

Jul 18, 2024, 23:38

Moz that’s my point you rate very few SA players

Chiliboy? You have me confused with someone else

I tell you who was damn good on that list and that was Wynand Olivier - he was a quality 12 who had no chance as a Bok given Jean was ahead of him

I just chuckle when you come up with a list like this - I’ll just throw in a name for you - Adi revolving door Jacobs lol

Jul 19, 2024, 00:14

I knew you would bring up Adi Jacob’s Dave….and you know my response, no center in the 2008 TN had better stats than Adi. And he scored some excellent tries 7 in 34 tests matching Am’s 6 in 35 tests.

Jul 19, 2024, 00:48

Adi was shit Moz and we all know that. You were about the only person on the planet that rated him

You can’t tell me Adi was good and then tell me Olivier was poor.

I know the reality of Olivier - had he played at a different time he would have been a good test 12

SA have only really had Jean, de Allende and Esterhuizen as standout 12’s, Olivier was next in line after these guys - he was far better than the likes of de Wet Barry or Brendan Venter or even my school mate Hennie le Roux who was a brilliant 10 but never a 12, he was far too small for 12.

One 12 I really rated but he never got many tests was Heinrich Fuls and Danie v Schalkwyk - geez blasts from the past. There was a Scholtz as well, was it Christian Scholtz? I think Danie was a 13, who played alongside Wynand Olivier? But I’m not sure

Jul 19, 2024, 17:00

Adi Jacobs was utter shit

Could not tackle for shit

Another Juan de Jongh

Jul 19, 2024, 17:20

Wrong he had the lowest tackles missed by centers percentage in the 2008 RC.

Jul 19, 2024, 19:06

Give me a break - there was a reason he was called revolving door

Jul 19, 2024, 19:08

Give you a break? Is this the no mas moment? The revolving door and  that’s proof? He was a fan target because fans wanted Fury. Adi like Juan de Jongh was an excellent open field tackler.

Jul 19, 2024, 19:10

He was utterly shit - could not tackle to save his life and that spans his entire career

Fourie vs Adi is unbelievably insulting

Jul 19, 2024, 19:14

Back to wild assertions.

Jul 19, 2024, 19:28

Nope I saw him playing for years on par with Juan de Jongh - both utterly shit

Up there with de Wet Barry and Braam v Straaten
