The historic Eden Park is set to host a titanic clash between the All Blacks and the Springboks on September 6, marking the first of two back-to-back Rugby Championship fixtures on New Zealand soil. Carlos Spencer, former fly-half for New Zealand, casts a wary eye on the Springboks, acknowledging their potential to shatter the All Blacks' formidable record at this venue.

New Zealand has dominated Eden Park, not losing a single match there since a 1994 upset by France. With a track record of 48 wins and two draws from 50 Tests, the venue has become a fortress for the home team. The Springboks, alongside the British and Irish Lions in 2017, are one of the few teams to have held the All Blacks to a draw during this period.

"It's not just intimidation; it's the history of Eden Park. Obviously, it comes with that history of not losing a Test match there, so I think teams think on that,"

Spencer commented. He expressed that if any team could end the All Blacks' streak, it would be the current Springbok squad.

The All Blacks are riding high on confidence after a recent 3-0 series sweep against France in New Zealand. Despite some expected ups and downs last year, the team showed resilience and strength.

"For New Zealand, it's good, it's a confidence booster for them. A few ups and downs last year, but you probably would have expected them to go 3-0 up, considering the side that the French brought along,"

Spencer remarked, giving credit to the French team for their unexpectedly strong performance.

As the Rugby Championship looms, the All Blacks are well aware of the challenges ahead. Spencer, reflecting on the upcoming series, shared his anticipation and concern for the formidable South African team. With the Springboks' recent domination in international rugby, the upcoming matches at Eden Park and later at Sky Stadium in Wellington are poised to be pivotal for both teams.

With history, pride, and high stakes on the line, the rugby world is buzzing with anticipation for these epic showdowns between two of the sport's greatest rivals. Spencer, along with fans around the globe, is eager to see if the Springboks can indeed make history by overturning the All Blacks' impressive record at Eden Park.
