It was an epic weekend for schoolboy rugby, with Paarl Boys' High snagging a victory that could only be scripted in the wildest sports fantasies. Among the triumphs, Oakdale Landbou and several other schools also wrapped up their seasons with memorable wins.

Down 33-21 as the clock wound down, Paarl Boys’ High, affectionately known as Boishaai, shocked spectators with a thrilling comeback against arch-rivals Paarl Gimnasium. In a dramatic twist, centre Tristan Joubert dashed through to score a crucial try in the 66th minute, followed by a nerve-racking conversion by Iwan Jordaan that sealed the deal. Despite a standout performance from Gim’s Markus Muller, who scored a try alongside three conversions and four penalties, it wasn’t enough to dampen the blue-and-white revelry. The victory not only marked a season highlight but also clinched Boishaai the top unofficial ranking among South African schools, both teams rounding off the season with a 16-1 record.

"It's a testament to the boys' spirit and determination, pulling off a win from the jaws of defeat," said an elated Boishaai coach post-match.

Meanwhile, Oakdale Landbou, the only squad to topple Paarl Boys’ this season, edged out Paul Roos Gimnasium 21-17 in a tightly contested match, leading 12-5 at halftime and holding on for the win.

In Gauteng, the rugby fields were ablaze with intense matchups. Jeppe celebrated a historic 100th clash against KES with a 39-31 victory. Affies demolished Waterkloof with a whopping 64-19 scoreline, while Noordheuwel secured a win against Garsfontein, the reigning Noordvaal Cup champions, with a score of 28-22.

The Eastern Cape saw its share of action as Queen’s College narrowly defeated Selborne 31-28. Grey High, however, suffered a heavy 48-15 defeat at the hands of Grey College. DHS dominated Northwood with a convincing 36-5 victory in KwaZulu-Natal, further underscoring the weekend's fierce competition.

The central region and other areas of the country also witnessed their fair share of rugby thrills. Among them, Witteberg pulverized Hoërskool Sentraal 70-7, and in the Western Cape, Bishops put up an impressive 42-36 against Milnerton.

The weekend's results have set the stage for an intriguing close to the school rugby season, with teams across the board showcasing talent, grit, and an undying love for the game.
