Imagine a rugby squad so daring that it decides to mix the fierce rivals of Aussie and Kiwi players to take on the British & Irish Lions. Yes, that's exactly what's happening in Adelaide as an Aussie-Kiwi invitational team, coached by Les Kiss, tries to throw a spanner in the works before the Lions' big showdown with the Wallabies.

This isn't just any team, though. With seventeen internationals packing the lineup, it's like assembling a rugby Avengers team. The last time these two nations teamed up was way back in 1989, and if history teaches us anything, it's that when Aussies and Kiwis join forces, expect fireworks!

The Lions, under Andy Farrell, have been bulldozing through their tour, undefeated in four games and looking sharper than a tack. They're the favourites heading into the Test series, but Kiss has different plans.

"If we got a win, yeah, it’ll definitely light things up, wouldn’t it,"

he mused, hinting at shaking things up before the Lions even hit Brisbane.

Leading the charge for this unique team are co-captains David Havili and Lukhan Salakaia-Loto. With the likes of All Blacks like Shannon Frizell and Hoskins Sotutu, alongside Aussie speedster Marika Koroibete, this team isn’t just here to make up numbers. They're here to compete, and maybe, just maybe, send the Lions packing with a loss that’ll sting.

Kiss highlighted the camaraderie building within the squad, with players bonding over training sessions and social outings.

"They want to go out there and show the best of themselves,"

Kiss added, underscoring the ambition simmering in the team.

Havili, fresh from leading the Crusaders to yet another Super Rugby title, shared his excitement about the amalgamated team's prospects. "We all want to win, but it’s about how we do that," said Havili, confident despite the team’s brief prep time. Sporting the green, gold, and black jersey, he believes it’s an awesome opportunity to showcase their talents on a grand stage.

As the Lions tour heats up, this Aussie-Kiwi ensemble isn’t just playing for kicks; they're out to light up the tour and perhaps rewrite the script. With such a star-studded lineup, who’s to say they can’t? Watch out, Lions, the underdogs are coming for you!
