A repeat of the final of the Bastad Open is quite possible.  The seeds in the top Half of the Draw is considerably weaker than the seeds in the bottom half of the draw.   So Rublev will have his hands full in getting past Cerundolo and  Musetti.    He struggled to get past Cerondulo  in the Swedish tournament and Musetti is another youngster trying to get up in the rankings.   However,  I put R100 bet on Rublev winning the tournament  -  unfortunately he is the bookmaker's favorite to win and my winnings will be considerably less than I hope it would be.

If Ruud and Rublev are in the final - I think Rublev will win.   So far in tournaments Rublev won 6-2 out of 8 played.   The count on clay courts are 5-0 in favor of Rublev.    I actually visited Hamburg and the tennis stadium in Hamburg once and the main court is covered by a canvas system preventing rain from interrupting matches.

Unlike what happened at present in Umag - Croatia - where the temperature at present  is supposed to be in the 40 degrees Celsius range - but it is raining interrupting 2 matches - so one supposed the temperature is still in the 40's.

I like what I saw of Arthur Fils - he will soon move into the Top 32 rankings and is bound to go higher - another youngster coming through.

I see neither of Alcaraz, Djokovic, Ruud or Rublev are playing next week and theya re bound to play in the APT 1000 tournament thereafter,   Ruud and Rublev were dead on their feet in Hamburg - they urgently needed a rest after playing in the Wimbledon, Bastad and Hamburg in successive weeks.   After Ruud took a rest in February Rublev played in 58 matches thus far this year,    The latter is by some distance way too many.

Zverev struggled badly after return to tennis after his very serious injury at the French Open in 2022. He returned to tennis  but his since struggled with lack of confidence issues.   It is a pleasure to see him back playing on a level he used to play.   The victory in Hamburg will certainly give him real confidence.

At one stage Zverev was out of the Top 32 ranked players - for months he was in the Top 20=30 range . but after his victory in Hamburg he is now back at 16.   Good performances in Canada could take him into the Top 10 rankings - where he really belongs.
