Romano has added that City are also determined to sign Lucas Paqueta from Premier League rivals West Ham United in the summer transfer window. The Citizens are working on a new bid for the Brazil international attacking midfielder and could make an offer this week.
Doku has been on the books of Rennes since 2020 when he joined from Anderlecht. The 21-year-old Belgium international winger made 13 starts and 16 substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Rennes last season, scoring six goals and providing two assists in the process.
