Barcelona are interested in signing Aymeric Laporte from Manchester City in the January transfer window, according to Sport. The report has claimed that the former La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners are looking to replace Gerard Pique in the squad in the middle of the season following the Spanish central defender’s retirement, and that Laporte is one of the players on their radar.
Laporte has been on the books of Manchester City since 2018 and has been hugely successful for the defending English champions. The 28-year-old Spain international centre-back has won the Premier League title four times, the FA Cup once, and the EFL Cup on three occasions.
Barcelona are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment with 37 points from 14 matches, five points clear of second-placed and defending champions Real Madrid, who have played 13 times. Meanwhile, Manchester City are currently second in the Premier League table with 32 points from 13 games, two points behind leaders Arsenal.
